5 Great Reasons for Having Children

by Daily Banner

A recent study indicated 56% of adults between the ages of 18 to 49 “just don’t want to have children”, with no reason specified.

That does sound a lot like their minds can be changed!

When it comes to the idea of having children, it often comes with the tales of how they steal away the pleasures of life and suck your bank account dry. But the truth is, with children, there are many more positives than there are negatives.

Keep reading to find out 5 of the best reasons to say “yes” to having kids of your own.

1. Children = A New Life Chapter

For some people, adulthood without children is full of excitement, adventure, and thrilling life events. For a while, that is, until the desire to find a deeper meaning to it all sets in. Suddenly, the financial worries, global uncertainties, worries about getting pregnant, or matters like the possible tubal ligation reversal surgery cost, don’t seem like good reasons not to have kids after all.

Having children is the ultimate catalyst of change. When we welcome kids into our lives, new and deep changes occur—to our relationships, friendships, outlook, and attitude, and sometimes even means the addition of a new home and a new network of friends.

2. Children Bring Perspective and Purpose

There is nothing like welcoming a child into the world to adjust our perspective and purpose in life.

Children help us focus on what really matters in life. For them, we are encouraged to work harder but also play harder. We take time to enjoy the little joyful moments in life more often because we need to and want to.

With children, our eyes both are in the present and the future so we can give them the best opportunities in life. Major news stories and events make us want to do what we can to bring change, not for ourselves, but for our kids.

3. Experience Unconditional Love

No love is more pure than the love between a parent and a child. First-time parents quickly learn that even throughout life’s challenges, no matter how bad things get, nothing can dissolve that kind of love.

On good days, bad days, and every day in between, with children, you can experience giving and receiving unconditional love.

4. You Don’t Have to Worry About Loneliness in Old Age

We’ve all heard of old people whose children deserted them but those cases are few and far between. Most elderly people keep the unconditional love of their children as they age and throughout their lives.

Once you reach your retirement years, having your children (and even grandchildren) around brings joy and meaning to your life.

5. Children Are Fun

There are challenges to raising kids, but one of the benefits of children in our lives means lots of added fun and laughter. You can’t stay serious for long with kids around.

Every day is busy, full of lively adventures, lots of playtime, activities, sports, and games. Birthdays, celebrations, and holidays become even more fun. Add in some sweet surprises, amazing memories, and constant laughter, and you’ve got a lifetime of happy times.

Having Children Just Makes Sense

Now that you know about the positive effects that having children has on our lives, are you ready to take the leap? In reality, we try our best to be great parents but despite all of the parenting tips we get, being a parent is all about embracing the journey—the challenges along with the joys.
