Kirby was asked to comment on an article by American journalist Thomas Friedman in The New York Times, where he writes about the alleged “deep distrust” between the White House and Zelensky.
He stated that Biden has expressed “his admiration for the leadership and courage of President Zelensky in this time of war” many times.
“Obviously, he has spoken to President Zelensky many times in person, and he knows – understands the stress President Zelensky and the entire Ukrainian people are under. And that is why he remains determined to continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression,” — Kirby said.
The White House spokesman noted that the US president expressed respect for Zelensky and the challenges faced by Ukrainians in “private and public order.”
