British military intelligence believes that the pace of Russia’s offensive in Ukraine will slow down over the next few months, as the Russian army exhausts its resources.

British Prime Minister said Boris Johnson on the eve of the G7 summit in Germany, writes Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

Johnson noted that Russian forces are advancing in the eastern Donbas, but are suffering heavy losses.

“Our military intelligence believes that in the next few months, Russia may come to a point where there will be no further progress, because it has exhausted its resources. Then we should help the Ukrainians change the dynamics,” Johnson said.

“To the extent that the Ukrainians are capable of launching a counteroffensive, it should be supported. With the equipment they demand from us,” the British prime minister added.

When asked what a Ukrainian victory or Putin’s defeat would look like, Johnson replied that it was necessary, at a minimum, to restore the pre-February 24 status quo and push Russian troops out of the occupied territories.

As UNIAN reported, now in the Donetsk direction the occupying troops are trying to advance in the direction of the city of Bakhmut and establish control over the city of Severodonetsk.
