British intelligence confirmed the destruction by Ukraine of the Russian tug “Vasily Bekh” Snake Islands using Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

This is stated in the daily intelligence report in Twitter.

The target of the attack was almost certainly the Russian naval tug Vasily Bekh, according to intelligence officials. The ship delivered weapons and personnel to Zmeiny.

The destruction of a Russian vessel during a resupply operation demonstrates the difficulties Russia is facing in trying to support its forces occupying Zmeiny, intelligence indicates.

“Ukrainian coastal defense efforts have largely neutralized Russia’s ability to establish control over the sea and deploy naval forces in the northwestern Black Sea. This undermined the viability of Russia’s original plan of action for the invasion, which included placing the Odessa region at risk from the sea,” they explain military.

As UNIAN wrote, information about the wrecked tug appeared on the morning of June 17th.

According to the head of the Odesa OVA Maxim Marchenko, the ship was transporting ammunition, weapons and personnel of the Tor anti-aircraft missile system to Snake Island.

In the evening Marchenko confirmed the sinking of the tugboat.

Help UNIAN. Built at a shipyard in Astrakhan, the Vasily Bekh tug with a displacement of 1,605 tons became part of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in 2017.

It has a crew of 26 and also has 36 places on board for additional personnel or those being rescued.
