Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Prime Minister of Portugal António Costa for Portugal’s support for granting Ukraine candidate status for EU membership.
Ukraine will adopt the experience of Portugal in rapprochement with the European Union.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Twitter after a conversation with Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa.
Zelensky thanked Costa for Portugal’s support for granting Ukraine candidate status for EU membership.
“We agreed to draw on the experience of Portugal in our rapprochement with the EU,” he said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on February 28, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an application for Ukraine’s membership in the European Union.
The European Commission recommended that the European Council grant Ukraine a European perspective and the status of a candidate for EU membership. The decision of the European Council on granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership is expected on June 23-24.
