The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, said that public sector employees cannot cooperate with the occupiers, employees of other enterprises can work without the consequences of criminal liability for collaboration.

Fedorov warned residents of Melitopol against obtaining Russian passports.

“Pseudo-passports of Russia cannot be taken. The invaders want to forcibly mobilize residents. The passport will not be recognized by Ukraine or any democratic state. Dual citizenship is prohibited in Ukraine,” the mayor wrote.

According to him, residents are forced to take humanitarian aid and money from the occupiers, as well as buy Russian SIM cards.

“The main thing in this situation is that the support should be from the Ukrainian side. Like in the elections: you took money from anyone, and you made your choice according to your conscience,” Fedorov said.

“Employees of the public sector cannot cooperate with the occupiers. The Ukrainian government will continue to finance state employees. Employees of other enterprises can work without the consequences of criminal liability for collaboration. The head of the enterprise bears all responsibility for interaction with the occupiers,” the mayor wrote.

He explained that it is the manager who decides which country to pay taxes and where to open accounts.

Melitopol State Pedagogical University named after Bogdan Khmelnitsky and Taurida State Agrotechnological University remain Ukrainian, they are re-registered in Zaporozhye, Fedorov noted.
