Russians may be allowed to compete in fencing – Harlan

Olympic fencing champion Olga Kharlan commented on the issue removal of Russian athletes from international tournaments.

“I count on the support of my foreign friends, colleagues, who will also influence the decision of their federations.

Already, unfortunately, there are rumors that, perhaps, Russian athletes may be admitted. I think we need to be prepared for this.” said Harlan on the air “DIRECT FM”.

The fencer also noted that she does not rule out a boycott of tournaments with the participation of Russians by Ukrainians, but this decision should be made collectively:

“In any case, we will have some kind of plan, we will think of something. As for the boycott – I cannot answer this question, because this should be a collective decision of the whole fencing, it cannot be just my opinion. We here they must act as a team.

It is very difficult, especially with our federation (international – approx.), where “sport is out of politics.”

Recall that at the moment the International Fencing Federation (FIE) has banned Russian athletes to compete even in a neutral status.
