The EU has actually demonstrated that it is he who continues to determine the rules of the game on the European continent.
Russia is imposing a narrative about Ukraine fatigue in the European Union to highlight our inferiority. In fact, there is no fatigue in Europe, and the provision of Ukraine EU candidate status this confirms.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Kuleba in broadcast of the national telethon.
“Well, what kind of fatigue from Ukraine?! Yes, there is a solid holiday from Ukraine! Look, the head of the European Council tweets – congratulations, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, presented the conclusion on Ukraine in a yellow-blue suit. Yes, there is no fatigue from Ukraine, forget this term altogether. I have always said before, now and will always say: there has never been any fatigue from Ukraine, there is not and never will be. This is the Russian narrative imposed on us in order to emphasize our inferiority about what is from us someone somewhere is tired,” Kuleba explained.
The Foreign Minister noted that the EU has actually demonstrated that it is he who continues to determine the rules of the game on the European continent, and not Russia, China or anyone else.
“The EU is the driving force of the European continent. Today, on the contrary, they have felt all the strength, energy, the ability to make historic decisions… On Ukraine, Moldova, issues of extreme complexity, they have reached a consensus. This gives them confidence in their ability to move Europe forward. Today Europe has become stronger,” Kuleba said.
EU candidate status
As UNIAN reported earlier, on February 28, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an application for Ukraine’s membership in the European Union.
17 June European Commission recommended The European Council to provide Ukraine with a European perspective and the status of a candidate for joining the European Union.
Thursday 23 June European Council granted candidate status to Ukraine for membership in the European Union. Moldova also received this status.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet explained what gives the status of an EU candidate for Ukraine. In particular, it officially launches the process of acquiring membership in the European Union by Ukraine, opens for Ukraine participation in the programs and initiatives of the European Union. It will also lay the foundation for conditions for approaching the standard of living, welfare and legal protection of Ukrainians, as in other EU countries, and so on.
