Reuters: Trudeau arrives in Ukraine to meet with Zelensky

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit, intends to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Reuters reports. Trudeau has already managed to visit the Ukrainian city of Irpen, located in the Kyiv region.

Earlier it became known that US First Lady Jill Biden made an unannounced visit to Ukraine and met with the wife of President Vladimir Zelensky. The wife of the President of the United States came to Ukraine from Slovakia. She visited the city of Uzhgorod and one of its schools, which is currently used to house refugees. There she met Elena Zelenskaya and then returned to Slovakia.

On April 27, Canada imposed sanctions against 203 representatives of the DNR and LNR. The restrictions will affect 11 high-ranking officials and 192 deputies of the people’s councils of the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics.

Before that, Canada imposed sanctions on 160 members of the Federation Council of Russia against the backdrop of a military special operation in Ukraine. Trudeau then also promised that Canada would continue to work with allies in order to “hold the Russian Federation to account.”
