The court elected for the former Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Alexander Tupitsky preventive measure in the form of detention, this allows him to apply for his extradition from Austria, according to the State Bureau of Investigation.
By according to the investigationby the same definition, the Podolsky District Court of Kyiv converted the amount of bail previously applied to the accused into state revenue.
Recall, according to the materials of the DBR on the whereabouts of the ex-chairman of the Constitutional Court, on May 27, 2022, he was put on the international wanted list. Then it became known that Tupitsky may be hiding in Austria.
This court decision allows the prosecution to petition the court for the extradition of the accused in Ukraine.
On May 25, 2021, investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation filed an indictment against the former Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
“In October 2018, in one of the cafes in Kyiv, an ex-official, who at that time held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, bribed a witness in criminal proceedings. The witness must refuse to testify or give “necessary” evidence in favor of the former Chairman of the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine, who was in the status of a suspect,” – noted in the DBR.
In addition, according to the information of the Bureau, the former Chairman in 2018 and 2019 provided false evidence in the case of unlawful appropriation of property assets of the Zuyevsky Energy Mechanical Plant, located in Zugres, Donetsk region.
The ex-chairman of the Constitutional Court is accused of deliberately false testimony, combined with the creation of evidence for the defense and bribing a witness. He faces a sentence of imprisonment for up to 5 years.
Recall that earlier the United States imposed sanctions against Tupitsky and his wife.
