OGPU: to investigate the crimes of the Russian Federation, the United States can provide special technical equipment

According to the Prosecutor General, we are talking about the provision of special expensive software, as part of technical assistance.

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova told what technical equipment the United States can support Ukraine in the framework of cooperation in investigating war crimes of the Russian Federation.

Venediktova announced this on the air of an informational telethon during an interview with one of the Ukrainian channels.

“In order to effectively investigate Russian crimes, Ukraine needs technical assistance. We are talking about special software that is extremely expensive, these are millions of euros, dollars, pounds. Yes, we have a lot of interceptions, photo and video recordings. A lot of various audio files. Investigators they can listen to it for 10-15 years. If we take beautiful, modern software, then we can do it very quickly. It costs money, which, of course, is not in the budget of Ukraine and the state will not be able to allocate it to us,” Venediktova said.

She noted that for the rapid collection of all evidence and further storage, Ukraine needs additional opportunities.

“If we are talking about the cyber sphere, then we need to maintain our website, which is a special hub for all law enforcement officers, for the Ministry of Justice with the Strasbourg Court, for the Ministry of External Affairs with the UN Court, for us and the ICC Court. Of course, this site must be kept safe and protect it, protect the data of people who were submitted there,” Venediktova explained.

The Prosecutor General added that Ukraine needs international assistance in the field of conducting various DNA examinations, medical, ballistic, trace. And also, experts are needed who would be involved in establishing the damage caused to the state.

The Attorney General noted that the United States will create its own group to investigate war crimes, which will be headed by the legendary Nazi hunter Eli Rosenbaum.

“We have a lot of opportunities to cooperate. The United States has opened its own production, like 18 other countries, for crimes that were committed in Ukraine. In addition, they have US citizens who are injured and dead. Therefore, we have a lot of reasons to conduct joint investigations “Eli Rosenbaum is an experienced prosecutor with 36 years of experience. Not only the prosecutor’s direction will work, but also the direction of the search for criminals,” Venediktova emphasized.

She informed that from the first days of the war in Ukraine, a special group was created, which is looking for war criminals directly.

“In our great case, there are 623 suspects for the crime of aggression. Of course, these are the top leaders of the Russian Federation in relation to the military and political sphere, agents and propagandists. We already have a group to search and identify their assets and property. Directly within the framework of criminal proceedings. This group has been functioning for three months now and we will work with the American side, in particular, with the Cleptocapture Task Force,” the Prosecutor General added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on June 21, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova discussed with the Prosecutor General USA Merrick Garland cooperation in the investigation of war crimes of the Russian Federation.
