Naftogaz threatened Gazprom with new arbitration – UNIAN

If Gazprom does not change its position on transit, then next month the Ukrainian side will have the right to apply to international arbitration, said the chairman of the board of Naftogaz.

Russian “Gazprom” underpays Ukraine for gas transit, which is why NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine is preparing to initiate a new international arbitration.

About it declared Chairman of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy Yuriy Vitrenko during a press conference.

According to him, according to the terms of the current contract with Gazprom, the parties have 45 days to independently resolve disputes, and only after this period can they apply to arbitration.

“Next month, this period expires, and unless a miracle happens – that is, Gazprom changes its position, then this will mean that next month we will have the right to apply to international arbitration,” he said.

Vitrenko added that Naftogaz will use all the possibilities that the company has under this contract, including filing a lawsuit in arbitration.

“Indeed, Gazprom is now underpaying for transit, for the booked volumes that are available to it,” the head of the company explained.
