Membership of Ukraine in the EU – Zelensky reminded when to expect a historic decision of the European Council – UNIAN
On the eve of the meeting of the European Council, the President of Ukraine held a talk with the leaders of 11 countries, the telephone marathon will continue on June 23.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that before the historic decision European Council there are only a few hours left, and before that he holds numerous negotiations with the leaders of the countries.
About it Zelensky noted in his evening video message to the Ukrainians at the end of the 119th day of the war.
“From the very morning, I continued the telephone marathon for the sake of a positive decision on the candidacy for Ukraine. Today I spoke with the leaders of 11 countries… Tomorrow I will continue such a marathon. We must provide maximum support to our state. We are waiting for a key European decision,” the head of state said.

According to him, the decision is expected tomorrow evening.
“We are preparing for the historic decision of the European Council, there are only a few hours left before it,” Zelensky stressed.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on February 28, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an application for Ukraine’s membership in the European Union.
The European Commission recommended to the European Council give Ukraine a European perspective and candidate status for EU membership.
The decision of the European Council on granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership is expected on June 23-24.
Today, during a conversation with students at key Canadian universities, Zelensky expressed confidence that in the next two days Ukraine will receive the status of a candidate member of the European Union.
He is also sure that for Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership is a great motivator for uniting society and a great motivator for winning the war against the Russian Federation.
