Lebanon pushes Ukraine away. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the removal of the arrest from the ship with grain stolen by the Russian Federation – news from Ukraine, Politics

This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Foreign Ministry is disappointed with the decision of the Lebanese Tripoli court to lift the arrest from the vessel. According to the diplomats, despite the proof ofthe court did not take into account the position of the competent authorities of Ukraine.

“This decision actually encourages Russia to continue the theft in the temporarily occupied southern Ukraine with a sense of impunity. In addition, with this decision, Lebanon actually undermines its food security, pushing Ukraine away as its reliable partner”the statement says.

In department Dmitry Kuleba stressed that Ukraine has always made efforts for the food security of Lebanon: it was in first place among grain exporters to this country in 2021, and the first since February 24 ship with grain left Odessa for Lebanon.

In addition, in coordination with the Ukrainian owners of the stolen cargo on Laodecia Ukraine suggested Lebanese side to buy flour and barley at a discounted price. However, the decision of the Tripoli court allows the sanctioned vessel Laodecia freely leave the port with stolen cargo.

The Foreign Ministry called on Lebanon to cancel the decision to lift the arrest and take measures to prevent further attempts to use Lebanon for fraud with stolen Ukrainian grain.
