Kryvbas got a new head coach – UNIAN

Kryvyi Rih “Kryvbas” has appointed a well-known Ukrainian specialist Yuriy Vernidub as the head coach. The contract was signed for three years.

56-year-old Vernidub joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the massive Russian invasion. By order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, Vernidub was transferred to Krivoy Rog for further military service.

“This will allow him, in his spare time from his official duties, to provide the necessary methodological assistance to the coaching staff in preparing athletes for competitions, subject to compliance with labor laws,” the official letter from the Ministry of Defense to the club says.

Let’s add that “Kryvbas” has risen from the First League to the UPL and will play in the elite division next season.

Yuri Vernidub: career

  • Vernydub headed Zorya Lugansk from 2010 to 2019. In this club, he made a name for himself as a coach, he was awarded the “Coach of the Year in Ukraine” in 2016 and 2018. Zorya won the UPL bronze medals with him in 2017.
  • After Zorya, Vernydub led Shakhtar Soligorsk to the Belarusian championship.
  • The last place of work of Vernidub was the Moldavian Sheriff, who made some noise with the Ukrainian last season of the Champions League. Also, Vernidub twice became the champion of Moldova with Sheriff.
