You can repeat this dish at home, but in order for the delicacy to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, you need to follow some tricks. To make french fries like in McDonald’s, they are frozen, boiled or double-fried in advance.

Freezing McDonald’s French Fries

At McDonald’s, the dish is prepared from frozen potatoes – then it will be soft inside. However, if the potatoes are simply frozen, they will darken. Therefore, before freezing, it must be soaked in a special solution..

  • Potato – 500 g.
  • Vegetable oil – 1 l.
  • Salt – 1 tbsp.
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Water – 1 glass.

Wash and peel the potatoes, cut into long sticks. Transfer all chopped potatoes to a large bowl and sprinkle with salt and sugar. Pour a glass of cold water and leave the potatoes in the solution for 3-5 minutes.

Then drain potatoes in a colander and place on paper towels. When the potatoes are dry, put them in a container with a lid and put in the freezer for 2 hours.

Bring the oil to a boil, throw in the frozen potatoes and deep-fry for 7 minutes. Take the french fries out of the oil and serve immediately.

French fries at home using cooking

If you do not have time to freeze potatoes, then you can boil them before frying. But the vegetable is not boiled in plain water, but in a special solution..

  • Potatoes – 500 g.
  • Salt – 1 tbsp.
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Vinegar – 2 tbsp.
  • Sunflower oil – 1 l.

Pour water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add salt, sugar and vinegar to the water. Peel the potatoes, cut into cubes and put in a boiling water. Boil 5 minutes after boiling. Remove potatoes and place on a paper towel to dry.

Bring vegetable oil to a boil and fry potatoes in oil until golden brown (7-10 minutes). Remove the French fries from the oil and place on paper towels. Salt to taste.

French fries in a frying pan

French fries can be cooked without a deep fryer. An ordinary frying pan is enough, but it will need to be fried twice.

  • Potato – 500 g.
  • Vegetable oil – 250 g.

Cut the potatoes into cubes and put in very cold water for 15 minutes. Remove potatoes and wipe off excess moisture. Pour the oil into the pan, bring to a boil and fry the potatoes for 10 minutes over low heat. Then take out the potatoes and cool to room temperature. Bring the oil to a boil again, put the cooled potatoes in it and fry for another 3 minutes. Salt to taste.
