Junior Commerce Secretary Penny Mordaunt was the latest candidate to be eliminated in a vote by lawmakers from the ruling Conservative Party, losing to Truss by just eight votes.
“I’ve seen enough to know which candidate I’m going to trust, and that’s Liz Truss,” Mordaunt said.
As noted, Mordaunt joined other ministers who have supported Truss in recent days, among them the Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace and Finance Minister Nadhim Zahavi.
