The National Bank of Ukraine within three months is implementing a campaign on collection of small coins for the needs of the Armed Forces. As calculated regulatorthere are currently more than 14 billion coins for more than 5 billion hryvnia. These funds can be used to purchase 70 Bayraktar drones, or 25 HIMARS MLRS, or 50 T-90 tanks, or 150 armored infantry fighting vehicles.
In addition, according to the NBU, Ukrainians do not often use small coins for settlements, while most of the coins in circulation are in denominations of 10 and 50 kopecks and lie in pockets or piggy banks unnecessarily.
Change points will work from August 1 to October 31, 2022 in branches of authorized banks – Oschadbank and FUIB. In addition, you can organize a collective fundraiser among your communities, at home, at work. “The combined efforts of Ukrainians can work wonders and help the Ukrainian army overcome the enemy,” the NBU says.
Earlier it was reported that there are almost 5.7 billion pieces of coins in denominations of 1, 2 and 5 kopecks in circulation. The National Bank extended the term for the exchange of these tokens for a year.
