The people’s deputy himself is in custody in the SBU detention center in Kyiv. He will participate in the meetings via video link from the premises of the Kyiv Court of Appeal, journalists say.
As you know, in April the SBU detained Medvedchuk after escape from house arrest at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on February 24.
In 2021, the special service announced several suspicions to Medvedchuk. He is suspected of committing high treason, assisting the activities of a terrorist organization and attempted to plunder national resources in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.
April 14 in the Rada was announced the suspension of the activities of the faction “OPZh”.
March 20 National Security and Defense Council stopped any activity of a number of political parties. The reason is the connections of political structures with the aggressor. The ban included, among other things, the Opposition Platform for Life and Shariy’s Party. After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, a number of deputies from the Opposition Platform for Life left the country.
The members of the Opposition Platform for Life included Viktor Medvedchuk, Putin’s godfather, who was detained earlier and is now in custody on suspicion of high treason.
