Bulgarian President Radev Dissolves Parliament and Appoints Provisional Government – Ukrainian News, World

President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev dissolved parliament and called snap elections for 2 October. This is reported on site heads of state.

Galab Donev, who previously served as the President’s Secretary for Demography and Social Policy, will become interim acting prime minister.

The political crisis in Bulgaria began on June 8, when Slave Trifonov, leader of the Ima takv narod (There is such a people) party, recalled his ministers from Kirill Petkov’s cabinet.

On June 16, the parliament voted for the resignation of the head of the National Assembly Nikolai Minchev, and a week later Petkov’s government received a vote of no confidence votes of 123 out of 239 MPs.

This decision was initiated by the opposition party GERB, led by the former Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisovit was supported by three other parties.

Already after the vote, the Petkov government decided expel 70 employees Russian embassy.

The last elections in Bulgaria were held in November 2021. They were won by the party “Prodzhavame promyanata” (“We continue the changes”) of Kirill Petkov and Asen Vasilev. Boyko Borisov’s GERB party took second place.

Elections were also held in July 2021 (Ima Taqv Narod won) and in April 2021 (GERB won).
