Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba says that as of now, the “grain initiative” for exports Ukrainian grain performed.
As an UNIAN correspondent reports, Kuleba said this at a joint press conferences with Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu following the talks in Kyiv.
“As of now, the agreements reached within the framework of the so-called” grain initiative “are being implemented. I recall that Ukraine was the first of all the participants in this agreement, which was fully prepared to fulfill all the points, and we will steadily continue to fulfill this agreement. It is beneficial for Ukrainian farmers. It is beneficial for the Ukrainian economy, and it is beneficial for the world,” Kuleba stressed.
The minister noted that now it is Ukraine that literally is the savior of the world from further growth in food prices and from hunger in individual countries.
“The following ships are already ready for departure. They will depart from the ports that take part in the” grain initiative “in accordance with the agreed schedule, and we hope that everything will work, and the Russian Federation will not take any steps that would destroy these agreements, which were so difficult to achieve through the mediation of the United Nations and Turkey,” Kuleba said.
As UNIAN reported, July 22 in Istanbul was an agreement was signed on unblocking Ukrainian ports “Odessa”, “Chernomorsk” and “Yuzhny” for the export of grain and other agricultural products. Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu signed separate identical agreements with the UN and Turkey.
On July 29, Kubrakov announced that 10 ships with Ukrainian grain in the ports of Odessa and Chornomorsk were already ready for shipment.
On August 1, in the morning, the first vessel with Ukrainian food left Odessa since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Dry cargo ship Razoni under the flag of Sierra Leone is heading to the port of Tripoli in Lebanon with 26,000 tons of Ukrainian corn. Today, August 3, this ship has already left the Black Sea and proceeded further through the Bosphorus Strait.
United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the passage of a vessel with Ukrainian bread through the Bosphorus is only the first step towards establishing food security in the world.
