Almost 70% of Ukrainians believe in joining the EU within 5 years

Almost 70% of Ukrainians believe in joining European Union over the course of 5 years.

These are the data of a nationwide survey in the conditions of war, conducted by the Sociological Group “Rating”.

At the same time, in the event of a referendum on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, 87% of citizens would support it, and only 4% would vote against it, and 8% would not vote.

“Support for joining the EU is unanimous among representatives of all macro-regions and age groups,” the Rating group notes.

According to the survey, 69% of respondents believe that Ukraine will join the EU in the next 5 years (40% – within 1-2 years, 29% – up to five years), and another 14% believe that Ukraine will become an EU member in the next 5 years. 10 years, 3% – in 10-20 years. Only 7% do not believe that Ukraine will integrate into the European Union.

How the survey was conducted

The survey was conducted on June 18-19, 2022. Audience: the population of Ukraine aged 18 years and older in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbass, as well as territories where at the time of the survey there is no Ukrainian mobile communication. 1200 respondents were polled. Survey method: CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews – telephone interviews using a computer). The error of the representativeness of the study with a confidence probability of 0.95: no more than 2.8%.
